A Chinese company is being accused of tricking hundreds of employees into conducting illegal activities so it could then fire them without severance pay. Apparently, the company had been looking for ways of getting rid of senior employees with high salaries without having to offer any financial compensation packages, so it had one of the senior managers lure such employees to various bars and clubs under the pretext of "after-work relaxation" where they were tricked into engaging in illegal activities. According to some of the tricked employees, the manager set them up with 'ladies of the night' and encouraged them to interact with them. After gathering dirty evidence on the employees, the manager would report everything to the company and the employees would be terminated without compensation. One employee engaged in gambling with a manager and even intentionally lost money to his superior to maintain a good relationship with him. Wow...that manager takes evil to a new level...denying him severance pay and squeezing more money out of him on top of that. This Chinese company didn't have to go to all that trouble to get rid of employees making the highest salaries. I love the job I have now, but managers at previous radio stations where I worked were sick geniuses when it came to torturing employees so much that they quit. A guy is making too much money? Don't cut his pay, just increase his workload...on a steady, drip-by-drip basis. At the end of the weekly meeting, as the manager is leaving the room, he'll say to the employee.."Oh, by the way..." before giving him some small but disagreeable task. Those tasks add up to major misery. Also, the employee will be told that, due his exceptional job performance, he is being given a new assistant to train. The employee is really training his replacement. In a few weeks, the employee will be terminated because the radio station "wants to go in another direction."...Oh...and then there's the time you're called at 4 in the morning during the best dream you've had in your life... and told you have to come in early because the morning guy..who just happens to be the manager's nephew.. has called in sick. Um..that happened to a friend of mine. Not me.
