NEWARK MAN INDICTED

A 40-year-old Newark man with an extensive criminal background is once again facing charges. Matthew Jones has been indicted on several charges including aggravated possession of meth and identity fraud. Jones has prior domestic violence, complicity and failure to comply convictions. He is being held on $75,000 bond.

KING HAS BEEN ARRESTED

A 36-year-old man wanted by Perry County officials has been arrested. The Perry County Sheriff's Office says authorities apprehended Mark King after he fled from a home on New Lexington Street. King was captured less than a half mile from the home. He was allegedly in possession of fentanyl and drug paraphernalia.

CELEBRATING JERRIE MOCK

Jerrie Mock Day is this Saturday at The Works Museum in downtown Newark. Executive Director Janice LoRaso says the event highlights the 60th Anniversary of Mock's historic solo flight around the world.

Loraso said Saturday's free event runs from 10a-2p and features plenty of fun things to see and do. For more information visit www.attheworks.org.

SOURCES OF STRENGTH

Sources of Strength is a student led comprehensive wellness program that uses peer leaders to change norms around codes of silence and help seeking. Newark High School senior Curtis Irby has been involved in the program the past few years.

This is Sources of Strength Week and specific activities will be held each day that will encourage students to work on their wellness and to focus on their strengths.

The Alzheimer's Association is seeking volunteers for initiatives across Central Ohio, including community education, support groups, fundraisers, advocacy and Walks to End Alzheimer's. Central Ohio Technical College has been designated as a 2024-2025 Military Friendly School by the Military Friendly organization. COTC has been awarded a silver status as a small public school, meaning they are within 20% of the 10th-ranked organization.
