Mike Cornell here with Quick News of the Weird. A GoFundMe page has been set up to help a man find his emotional support alligator named Wally. A few years ago, Wally was found in a pond in Disneyworld and, since the state of Florida has rule that any gator found in a public place like that can't be released in the wild...this guy from Pennsylvania named Joie Hanney agreed to adopt him. Wally is gentle with a capital G. Wally didn't get that 'be mean and dangerous' memo the other gators get. Joie can reach into Wally's mouth and the gator won't bite him. Joie says, "You can reach in and rub his tongue and he refuses to close his mouth, but we don't know why." When Joie lost some family members close to him, he went into a serious state of depression. Wally seemed to sense this and became more affectionate, crawling into Joie's lap demanding to be hugged. Joie would wake up in the morning and find Wally resting on his head leaving a jaw print on his face. Joie would walk Wally on leash through his neighborhood. Wally acted as a ringbearer at a wedding! Wally and Joie first made national headlines last year when the pair were denied admission to watch a Phillies game. Recently, Joie was visiting some friends in Georgia when Wally was stolen by some pranksters and dumped in another person's yard, probably to scare them. When Wally was discovered, alarmed residents contacted Georgia's Department of Natural Resources and they sent a trapper who caught and released Wally into a swamp with 20 other alligators. Even though the trapper says the chances of finding Wally are slim to none, Joie will search for his companion of 10 years regardless. So far, about four thousand dollars have been raised for his efforts. They should make the pranksters go look for Wally in the swamp. I'm rooting for this guy big time. I had an emotional support cat named Goldie when I was 10. That cat and I were inseparable. Once, I lost a piece
from a board game. I couldn't find it anywhere. Then, for seemingly no reason, Goldie ran under my bed. She had never done that before. I looked under the bed and saw Goldie sitting behind the missing game piece. A few months later, when she was run over by a car, I cried as I have never cried before or since. You can laugh at me. But I know when I go to heaven, Goldie will be there.
