Ten years ago, two patients and their caregivers— Sandy & Mark Lomeo and Annie & Matt Cacciato — organized the first Breath of Hope Ohio Gala to embody the new hope that research gives to those afflicted by this disease. Annual galas have followed for the past nine years. The crown jewel of lung cancer events, the Breath of Hope Ohio Gala brings together such luminaries as Doug Ulman, Will Reeve, Bonnie Addario, Chris Draft, Andrea Ferris, Governor Mike DeWine, Dr. Bruce Vanderhoff as well as OSUCCC – James leaders, Ohio State athletes and local news personalities with patients, families, researchers, clinicians, clinic staff and community partners to celebrate progress in lung cancer prevention, early detection and treatment.

Breath of Hope Ohio is a program of The Ohio State University dedicated to bringing hope to the men and women diagnosed with lung cancer every day and to raise funds to support the innovative research necessary for a cure.
