UTICA DAD IS INDICTED
Chance Topp, the Utica father accused of killing his infant daughter has been indicted. Topp, 27, faces a host of charges including murder and reckless homicide in the October 2023 death of the 4-month-old girl. Topp is being held at the Licking County Justice Center on $2 million bond.
FATAL CRASH IS UNDER INVESTIGATION
The investigation continues into a fatal July 4th crash in Licking County. According to the Granville Post of the State Patrol, the three-vehicle crash occurred Friday around 3:00 p.m. near the intersection of Ohio 13 and US Route 40. Deron Lee, 30, of Baltimore, Maryland was pronounced dead at the scene. Two others ages 35 and 13 were transported to the hospital with minor injuries. Two others were treated at the scene for minor injuries.
FLOODING IN TEXAS
More than 80 people have died and dozens more are missing following flash floods that struck central Texas early Friday. The death toll includes at least 28 children. Rescue efforts continue. New flooding poses a danger for several parts of the state.
MULTI-USE TRAIL IN HEBRON
The Village of Hebron has announced that a new multi-use trail is coming to the village. Economic & Community Development Director Brittany Misner says the new trail will connect to the Licking Park District's Ohio Canal Greenway Trail.
Misner said the project is made possible through grant funding from the Licking County Area Transportation Study Transportation Improvement Program. Construction is scheduled for next year.
ROAD WORK
The Newark Engineer’s Office has announced that starting today and running until Oct. 10 West Main Street between Coffman Road and Builders Drive will be closed for road improvements.
SUPPORTING OHIO'S FARMERS
The Ohio Department of Agriculture reports there are over 76,000 farms in the state, and 95% of them are family-owned. Joe Maxwell, president of the Farm Action Fund, says the federal government needs to do more to help farmers.
