LCSO MAKES ARREST IN SCAM

Bond has been set at $200,000 for a 43-year-old Dublin man accused of scamming a local resident. On Friday, May 9, the Licking County Sheriff’s Office launched an investigation after a local resident was scammed out of $27,000. The victim was led to believe that their Apple ID was compromised and needed to “secure assets” to protect themselves. The suspect, later identified as Liwei Zhang, arrived at the victim’s home and took possession of the $27,000. Monday, the victim was contacted again and was instructed to pay an additional $20,000. When Zhang arrived to collect the money, he was arrested. He is being held at the Licking County Justice Center on a single charge of theft.

NEWARK MAN IS INDICTED

A 38-year-old Newark man arrested in connection with a recent robbery has been indicted. John Winters III faces multiple charges including robbery, and aggravated possession of drugs. Winters entered not guilty pleas to all charges. He remains held on $50,000 bond.

ARREST MADE IN RESTAURANT FIRE

New Lexington police has arrested a man they believe is responsible for setting a fire that caused significant damage to a popular restaurant. The suspect allegedly set fire to a shed next to Dodson's on Broadway and then the blaze spread to the restaurant. The fire remains under investigation.

AIRPORT RECEIVES A STATE AWARD

The Licking County Regional Airport has been named Airport of the Year by the Ohio Aviation Association.

MENTAL HEALTH FOR CHILDREN

As youth mental health challenges rise and federal restructuring threatens key programs, former Ohio Governor John Kasich co-chaired a bipartisan task force calling for early intervention and stronger support for young people struggling with behavioral health and substance use issues.

NATIONAL TECHNICAL HONOR SOCIETY

C-TEC has 36 candidates this year for induction into the National Technical Honor Society. The goal of the National Technical Honor Society is to recognize deserving students who choose the technical education pathway during their high school education. These 36 students have satisfied the criteria established by both the local chapter and the national affiliate of the Technical Honor Society.
