BODY IS FOUND IN KNOX COUNTY HOME
The Knox County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a suspicious death in Clay Township. According to a press release, Saturday around 4:00 pm, deputies were dispatched to 22000 block of Bell Church Road and upon arrival found a deceased, unidentified person in the basement. This is an active investigation and anyone with information is asked to call the Knox County Sheriff's Office.
ZANESVILLE MAN SENTENCED IN 2024 SHOOTING
A 29-year-old Zanesville man is heading to prison for his role in a December 2024 shooting that injured one man. John Hoffer was sentenced to 27 years behind bars after pleading guilty to several charges including felonious. Hoffer does have prior aggravated robbery and assault convictions. Six other people are facing charges for their alleged roles in the shooting.
TRAFFIC SURVEY
The Licking County Health Department wants to hear from you when it comes to traffic safety in the community. Residents are encouraged to take a short survey to let officials know about traffic safety issues and what you want to learn more about during an upcoming community panel dealing with traffic. CHRISTMAS IN JULY POKER RUN
The Newark Moose Lodge #499 will host its Christmas In July Poker Run fundraiser on Saturday, July 19.

Jamie Wilden said the cost is $20 dollars for a rider and $5 for a passenger. Registration begins Saturday at 9:30am with the first bike out at 10:30am. The Newark Moose Lodge is located at 235 West National Drive in Newark.
SCHOOL FUNDING
Ohio educators say Governor DeWine’s decision to veto more than sixty provisions in the new state budget is a win for public schools, but it doesn’t go far enough. Jake Streeter, executive director of Cleveland Freedom Schools of Ohio, says his organization works closely with schools across northeast Ohio, where funding gaps are still hurting students and programs.

Governor DeWine used his line-item veto to remove a total of sixty-seven provisions from the state budget bill, including a provision to expand private school vouchers.
