The Ohio Reformatory is one of ten prison facilities in the United States with nursery facilities, allowing women who are pregnant when incarcerated to keep their infant with them during the duration of their sentence. Keeping the babies with their mothers allows for them to be breastfed, and also doesn't interrupt the parent/child bonding. The program costs the state $2million, and has some stipulations- mothers cannot be convicted of a violent crime, and cannot have had any history of problems with child services. They also can't be sentenced to more than 36 months.
Are you in favor of programs to keep babies with their mothers in prison?
