It’s one thing to see an authentic 457th Bombardier Jacket,
stenciled bombs on the back signifying each successful raid, or a Nazi
flag, bearing the arresting swastika symbol, but quite another to
background stories about how and why they were made and who acquired
You’ll have a chance to hear about these two items plus learn more about
the history and technology of World War II at the Johnson-Humrickhouse
Museum on Jun. 20th at 6:30 P.M. Bill Given, a curator of the
newest exhibit, *We Can…We Will…We Must!*, will give a tour of the show.
Hundreds of collectibles are on display from uniforms, helmets and
regulation supplies to presentation swords, hate belts and trench art.
Bill has been researching and collecting military items for over thirty
years. Admission for the “WWII Exhibit Tour with Bill Given” is $4.00
adults, $3.00 for students, and free for Friends of the Museum.
The Johnson-Humrickhouse Museum will be offering two other monthly
to commemorate WWII. This year’s programs include “Rosie the Riveter,
Portrayed by Alice Hoover” on July. 12, 6:30 to 7:30 P.M. and
Firearms with Jerry Meyer” on Aug. 16, 6:30 to 7:30 P.M. The WWII
is sponsored by West Lafayette Rotary, West Lafayette Lion’s Club, the
Janusian Club and the Timmons Foundation.
The Johnson-Humrickhouse Museum is open daily from noon to 5:00 P.M.
through October and is located at 300 N. Whitewoman Street, in Historic
