BOEING EXTENDS LEASE

Some great economic news coming from Boeing and the Heath-Newark-Licking County Port Authority.

Port Authority Pres./CEO Rick Platt, said in Heath, Boeing is engaged in maintenance, repair, and overhaul for a variety of aerospace and defense guidance and navigation systems.

NEWARK MAN PLEADS NO GUILTY

A 49-year-old Newark man accused of engaging in sex acts with a teenager between 13 and 16 years old was back before a judge recently. Bryan Ramsey entered not guilty pleas to multiple charges including two counts of rape in connection with alleged incidents that took place between March and May of this year. Ramsey remains held on $500,000 bond

COLE IS SENTENCED

David Cole Jr., the Zanesville man accused of helping his wife cover up the murder of his father, has been sentenced. Cole, 44, will spend the next nine years in prison after previously pleading guilty to several charges including abuse of corpse stemming from his father’s death on Christmas Day 2024. His wife Brittany Cole was sentenced to life in prison after admitting to administering a lethal combination of medications to her father-in-law.

IRVING WICK CLOSES

Due to continued confusion and non-compliance of road signs by some motorists, the Heath Police Department and ODOT have found it necessary to close Irving Wick West at Keller Drive. This closure will remain throughout the duration of the Thornwood Drive reconstruction project. Motorists are urged to be cognizant of the signage posted and drive with caution.

CAREGIVER TAX CREDIT

New bipartisan bills in the Ohio Legislature would provide a $2,000 tax credit to working Ohioans who care for family members at home. Jenny Carlson, State Director for AARP Ohio, says the credit would offer real relief.

Carlson said caregivers pay between $7,200-$14,000 a year depending upon the acuity and level of need of their loved one.

STRAWBERRY FESTIVAL

The Newark Kiwanis Strawberry Festival gets underway today at 11:00 a.m. The festival runs through Sunday evening in downtown Newark.
