NEWARK MAN INDICTED ON DRUG CHARGES
A Licking County grand jury has returned a four-count indictment against a 48-year-old Newark man. Michael Meredith faces two counts each of aggravated trafficking in meth and trafficking in cocaine as a result of his arrest earlier this year. Meredith is being held on $100,000 bond. He is due back in court tomorrow.
TRAGEDY AT OSU COMMENCEMENT
One person died after falling at Ohio Stadium during Ohio State’s spring commencement ceremony Sunday afternoon. According to OSU officials, the person fell from the stands and was pronounced dead around 12:30 p.m. by medics. The victim's name has not been released. The commencement began at noon.
STEPS OF CHANGE
Newark Homeless Outreach and Ohio CAN will host the Steps of Change event in a couple of weeks in downtown Newark.
Trish Perry, with Newark Homeless Outreach, said there will be family-friendly activities, speakers and a walk in memory of those who have died from drugs.
WEATHERVANE PLAYHOUSE
The Weathervane Playhouse will be a busy place this week as actors start coming into town for the summer season.
Executive Director Lauren Harvey said the Weathervane Playhouse season starts with Man of La Mancha which runs May 30-June 8. To purchase tickets or for more information visit www.weathervaneplayhouse.org.
ROAD WORK
Heath officials have announced that today, from 8:00am-3:00pm a section of Hebron Road near the Carvana site will be closed for repairs. The designated detour is the same as the one used for the previous road closure.
ENERGY CHOICE OPTION
The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio is encouraging Ohioans to review their energy choice options ahead of electricity supply price changes taking place on June 1. Residents can use the "price-to-compare", or PTC, printed on their monthly utility bill when comparing electricity rates from competitive suppliers to know if switching suppliers will help them save money or not.
